Hours of Work: 8-hour work day; must be available for 24-hour callout
OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB:
To perform administrative and clerical functions in a timely manner at the Jail and assist the Warden as necessary.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Supervises and directs staff and is responsible for all personnel-related matters, including hiring, training, recordkeeping, performance evaluations discipline and labor relations. Assists with preparing sick leave requests and adjusting daily work schedules; ensures compliance with all Title 37 including but not limited to training and policies; Under the direction of the Warden, assist in preparing for the State Inspections; prepares and submits reports required by the DOC, Social Security Administration; supervises and coordinates with the Records Department, inmate transfers to and from State, County, and Federal institutions and assists with the commitment and release of Jail inmates. Computes sentences, minimum and maximum release dates; assists Warden and staff in variety of diverse administrative and secretarial projects and duties as assigned; implements both written and verbal directives and assignments issued by the Warden and ensures compliance; composes correspondence relative to the work to outside agencies. (D&A, D.A’s office, etc); creates and updates Jail policy and procedures, in coordination with the Deputy Warden of Operations.
PA Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy course required. High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice or related field plus some computer training preferred. First aid and CPR Certification required.
B. WORK EXPERIENCE
3-5 years' experience in administration in a correctional environment. Corrections work, including 3 years at the supervisory level; or any acceptable combination of experience and training.
