This is a full-time position. Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. (1 hour unpaid lunch) Start rate is $11.28 per hour.
Overall Responsibilities:
Assists Treasurer and First Deputy in a variety of administrative and secretarial projects and duties, as assigned. Monitors tax collector’s account and assures all taxes are posted accurately. Prepares and issues licenses, registrations, bingo, and small games of chance as requested and according to the applicable laws. Operates computer, calculator and other office equipment as required to perform essential job duties. Interacts daily with internal and external government offices and general public. Answers phone calls and routine department questions, or directs callers to appropriate individual. Maintains cash drawer and other financial record keeping as assigned and balances accounts. Services customers at counter with a variety of department needs. Follows up on past due accounts and develops payment plan, if appropriate. Prepares all reports that must be submitted to various Commonwealth departments. Tracks and assists in balancing with tax collector funds. Maintains office supply inventory and restocking. Maintains department attendance records and submits information for payroll purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping. Strong experience interfacing with the public and clerical, bookkeeping and administrative abilities required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
2-4 years of experience in secretarial/administrative positions, with computer and bookkeeping knowledge, or any acceptable combination of experience and training.
