This part-time position may lead to full-time employment following successful completion of Officer in-house training.
Overall Responsibilities:
To perform care, custody and control of inmates in the County Jail.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Conducts booking procedures of newly committed detainees. Maintains and secures inmates' personal property. Maintains and documents accurate headcounts. Directs and monitors movement of inmates. Conducts searches on incoming inmates and prepares them for incarceration. Checks incoming mail, clothing and other items for contra band. Documents and maintains daily log of Jail activities. Observes inmate activities and observes any unusual behaviors or needs. Searches all areas of Jail for contraband. Issues clothing and housecleaning supplies. Supervises work detail. Interfaces with prisoners to determine their needs or problems. Patrols cell block areas and housing units.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent, Criminal Background check and pre-employment physical/drug screening required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Some security experience helpful, but not required.
