Essential Function of This Position include but are not limited to:
Reviews all work release eligible inmates and assists with applications; performs Background check and criminal history on all Work Release inmates; informs Jail staff of schedules and shifts for Work Release Inmates; observes inmates on work release programs to assure duties are being properly performed; ensures work release rules are followed by inmates; prepares court orders needed for parole releases; instructs employment skills to work release inmates to help them find employment; maintains and updates files, records and documents pertaining to Work Release inmates; monitors and collects and maintains Work Release maintenance fees; instructs Jail staff to carry out goals and requirements of work release program; maintains a liaison with officials of the Court as well as Law Enforcement and Correctional Professionals in Local, State and Federal Agencies; interacts daily with police agencies, parole/probation, attorneys, County personnel, general public and Board of Commissioners in regard to essential job duties; trains and orients all new employees of the Jail; goes to Inmate employment sites to check inmates; ensures urine or drug testing is being completed on a regular basis; covers the floor or as the shift supervisor or Lieutenant when needed; completes Lieutenants schedules, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences preferred - criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field. Employees must successfully complete the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy. Must possess a valid PA Driver's License. Must be certified with CPR and A.E.D.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Some experience in correctional institution required. Additional education in related field may be substituted for work experience.
