Assessment Department Clerk III - Full-time

Kittanning, PA
This is a full-time position at $10.73 per hour.  M- F, 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB:
To perform specialized clerical duties and assessment responsibilities following established methods and procedures.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB include but are not limited to:
Assists the public arriving in the department or by telephone by answering general questions regarding the Mapping Department and Assessment Office; instructs the public on the use of different maps (the old system and the new GIS system) and explains the Assessment computer system; makes maps for customers from the GIS program and makes copies using the engineering copier; maintains departmental paperwork and databases; types, copies and faxes letters, documents and other correspondence as required; maintains and updates tax records; prepares and processes department documents, forms and/or reports as required; processes Clean & Green and Homestead applications and enters data into computer.  Also reviews and maintains all Homestead/Farmstead files; operates cash register and processes receipts for cash and charges; responsible for scheduling, maintaining files and transcribing minutes for Assessment Appeals; responsible for all data relating to electronic transmission of the State Tax Equalization Board (STEB); transfers ownership data in Tyler and GSS systems as per deed.

Minimum Qualifications:

 EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalency, plus some clerical and computer training required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
1 – 2 years of clerical experience, including general office skills or any acceptable combination of experience and training.  Basic knowledge of mapping and a general knowledge of deeds a plus.
