This is a full-time position at $39,000.00 per year, M - F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Overall ResponsibilitiesTo assist the Director of Tax Revenue direct, plan and coordinate the work and staff of the Tax Revenue Department to include the following sub departments: Tax Claim Bureau; Assessment; and Mapping. In the absence of the Director of Tax Revenue, assumes the essential job functions and duties of the director.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Assists in preparing budgets for the Tax Revenue Department, and associated sub departments and providing tax data for budget purposes. Assists in reviewing and approving expenditures in Tax Revenue Department and associated sub departments under the direction of the Director, assists in administering tax claim collections and tax sales, and the Real Estate Tax Sale Law; assists in performing math calculations and maintaining statistical information regarding current County taxes and delinquent taxes and collections; assists in supervising and monitoring the tax collection process; assists in preparing and filing distribution petitions and other court documents with Court of Common Pleas and preparing deeds, as required; assists in the oversight of positing of sale properties by outside vendor throughout all areas of County; assists in entering delinquent tax return data and certifying delinquent taxes returned by all entities; assists in preparing and maintaining files for all delinquent taxpayers in jeopardy of tax sale; assists in resolving problems with Tax Collectors concerning delinquent tax returns, etc.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus some training in real estate/appraisal or property taxes preferred to include computer and bookkeeping skills.
WORK EXPERIENCE:1 - 3 years of experience interacting with the public and experience in assessment and mapping preferred.
