Department Clerk II - Full-time - Sheriff's Office

Kittanning, PA
This is a full-time position - 40 hours/week, Monday thru Friday.

Overall Responsibilities
:
To perform a variety of specialized departmental clerical duties and responsibilities within the assigned department.
 
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reviews and processes all applications for the sale of precious metals; reviews and processes all applications for Licenses to carry and sell firearms; performs background checks and researches applicant if criminal record is found; gathers all information on applicant and makes recommendations of approval or denial of licenses; processes letters, reports, documents and other forms required by the department staff; sorts, copies and/or files correspondence and documents within the department; answers telephone and takes messages or transfers calls to proper individuals; greets and assists general public by taking or providing information, receiving payments or directing them to proper locations; updates information to the computer database; operates computer, typewriter, laminating machine, copier and other office equipment as needed; expunges criminal history records when required by department; assists in collecting or receiving monies due department and maintaining accurate related records of such collections and balances cash drawer on a daily basis; maintains accurate files, statistics, logs or other department documents; dockets PFA's, Bench Warrants, Orders, license applications, and other departmental documents.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalency, plus some business/clerical and computer training preferred. 
 
WORK EXPERIENCE:
1-2 years working experience in office environment, County government or court system, or any acceptable combination of experience and training.
