OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB:
To perform varied secretarial and administrative functions in a timely manner to assure efficient operation of the Jail office and to act as liaison between the office and other County agencies and/or departments.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assigns clerical work and supervises assignments and staff to assure work requirements are carried out with efficiency and accuracy; answers phones, inquiries and greets public, directing same to appropriate staff members and/or taking messages; prepares outgoing mail, distributes incoming mail and signs for deliveries and certified mail; prepares and distributes forms, letters, petitions, orders, grant applications, quarterly reports and other documents as directed; performs general clerical duties such as data entry, copying, proofreading and printing; maintains and updates files including transfers, department logs, payroll, billing information and other departmental documents; coordinates and updates schedules for department and interacts with other court-related offices as needed; maintains and tracks department payroll, purchasing, expense accounts/trainings, vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair; reports defendant statistics/sentence information to other governmental agencies; implements any new procedures and assures work is done orderly and timely.
High school diploma or equivalent plus some clerical and computer training.
3-5 years’ work experience in office or similar system, some supervisory experience preferred, or any acceptable combination of training and experience.
