911 Systems Administrator - Full-Time

This is a full-time position at 40 hours/week.  The successful candidate will work a set scheduled but will be on call as needed.

Overall Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator as a member of the County’s Information Technology team is responsible for effective provisioning, installing/configuring, operation and maintenance of systems (Clients/Servers) hardware and software and its related infrastructure. This positions works directly under the supervision of the Public Safety Director and keeps the director informed of work progress and other issues. The Systems Administrator also assists with the County website, intranet sites, and various web applications and provides backup support to the Network Administrator and other IT Technicians.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides timely technical service to all Department of Public Safety users; installs and troubleshoots hardware, software, and network related outages; helps perform system backups and recovery and install new software; provides technical support including but not limited to training, installation, and service for print vending, imaging, all systems (Clients/Servers) software/hardware, hand held devices and other technological tools; maintains a record of work activities including installation, repair, maintenance, replacement, and testing of computer hardware and software; develops and maintains various systems and applications documentations; conducts tower site inspections, corrects minor issues, coordinates with Public Works to resolve; assists with purchases and projects involving hardware/software vendors; assists in maintaining and administering local area networks as well as support for Internet Services; creates, maintains and distributes Norton Ghost computer images; represents Public Safety on the ICORRS and WestCORE Region Committees; maintains ICORRS network at local level, works with vendors, and other counties on a regional level. Establish and maintains Windows Server Updates Services (WSUS) and CAD servers; installs, configures/maintains Anti-Virus/Spyware Protection Manager; maintains Computer Aided Dispatch system, works with county GIS to maintain CAD maps; maintains WestCORE telephone network at local level, works with vendors/other counties on the regional level.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a Computer Science related field, with networking concentration. Cisco Network Associate Routing and Switching, and Cisco Entry Network Technician certifications are preferred. Must have a valid PA Driver’s license and successfully complete all pre-employment screenings. Experience in public safety such as EMS, Firefighting, or Law Enforcement is preferred. Must complete Advanced NIMS training within 60 days of hire. Must obtain Level 1 NCIC clearance within five (5) days of hire.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of work experience in microcomputer technical support, networking, and server administration, or any acceptable combination of experience and training.
