Building & Environmental Control Specialist

This position is a casual part-time position at approximately 16 hours per week, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, M - F.

Overall Responsibilities:
To conduct the overall building and environmental control operations of the County.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Administers adopted budget in assigned area of responsibility; plans, coordinates, and evaluates building and environmental control programs; evaluates and formulates short and long range plans to meet needs in all areas of responsibility, including but not limited to County buildings, roads, parking lots, and park maintenance; ensures compliance with applicable codes, regulations and requirements; oversees the preparation of applicable plans and specifications for bidding purposes, including competency of contractors and vendors, and the selection criteria for contracts; supervises site inspections by government agencies; manages an inventory tracking system for all building and environmental control supplies; responsible for all purchasing for the Building and Environmental Control department; maintains, repairs and inspects County HVAC systems, cooling towers, chillers, air handlers, furnaces, condensing units, fan coils, VAVs (variable air volume), radiant heaters, pneumatic compressors, generators/UPS systems, building management system, conductivity and anti-corrosive chemical in open and closed loops, etc.; has general knowledge of Uniform Construction Code and National Electric Code; provides general construction skills such as framing walls, installation of doors and windows, installation of drywall, roof framing; possesses knowledge of all type of roofing substrates.

High school diploma plus technical training required or industry work experience. Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License along with current medical card and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Records Check.

5 to 7 years of experience working in building and environmental control, electrical, plumbing or allied trades.  Previous management experience desired.
