This position is full-time, 8 AM - 4:30 PM, M - F.
Overall Responsibilities:
To coordinate and supervise the work and staff of the Tax Claim Bureau and to perform specialized clerical duties within the department
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Greets members of public and professional clients and assists with requests by collecting requested information and/or resolving any/all issues or problems; performs routine accounts payable and receivable functions; receives and processes vendor billing statements; operates and maintains typewriter, computer, and other office equipment as needed. Maintains supply inventory and orders office supplies; receives and processes reports from the Treasurer’s office and Tax Collectors; updates computer data bases, as needed; calculates and communicates payment agreements for delinquent taxpayers; collects delinquent taxes and processes incoming payment, often handling very large amounts of cash; processes and updates deed information for property sold at tax sales and readies such information for recording; updates repository list with all unsold properties; provides delinquent tax information to Sheriff’s department as needed; provides bank with instructions on handling of checks returned for any reason; processes bankruptcies and ensures information is up to date and clients are notified; reviews payments options with clients; responsible for bank deposits and balancing of cash drawer; responsible for balancing monthly and payouts; processes and files check requests and purchase orders; supervises the work of the clerical staff; prepares yearly budget; prepares petitions and other court related documents for filing in the Court of Common Pleas; prepares and maintains files for tax sale properties; liaison between Tax Collectors and other entities to resolve issues; interacts with USPS to coordinate and implement mass mailings of Certified/Restricted mail; interacts with other County, State and local entities in regard to department duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus some computer and bookkeeping skills required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
1 - 3 years of experience interacting with the public and experience in assessment and mapping preferred.
